Registered envelope from Kaiega (Uitenhage) to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania bearing 1893-1902 1d carmine (3) and 1900 Table Bay 1d carmine (4) r, all tied by KARIEGA AU 20 (amended in ms.) 03 c.d.s. cancels, "Regd 122" number in ms. (Kareiga) with two handstamped numbers (New York and Philadelphia) having no additional Cape markings, New York and Philadelphia Registry backstamps of 20-21 September 1903, very Rare., Ex Dillaway. The post office was opened as Kariega Junction on 10 September 1859. The village, near Uitengage, was renamed Roodewal in 1863 but reverted to Kariega in September 1877. This is purportedly the only cover seen to date (Frescura).
