Shown here is a proving cover for the Numeral canceller in the 4.5.4. format. The large "4" design is omitted from current literature. Jurgens (1943) and Goldblatt (1983) record only the 2.5.2.format whereas Frescura (2002), who queried its existence in 1983, does not differentiate between the two (large and small "4s"), and still omits the large "4"canceller from his latest publication.
