Grills, all tied by wedge cancels on most of a front (plus some reverse with postmarks) bearing red NEW YORK PAID ALL MAR 5 c.d.s., large black PD, various manuscript, red boxed BREMEN 17-3-68 FRANCO transit, on reverse Italian 21 MAR 68 c.d.s. transit (Scott 87,89).

Used to Great Britain: 1867, 3¢ red, F. grill, 2 SE pairs, probably originally a block of four, tied by impressive reversed "19" in circle cancels of Washington CT (AUG 31) on envelope bearing red NEW YORK PAID ALL and red LONDON 12 SP 68 c.d.s. transit, on reverse Liverpool receiver. Impressive (Scott 94).

Used to France: 1867, 15¢ black, F. grill, well centered very fine copy, tied by large red BOSTON DEC 15 PAID c.d.s. on neat mourning envelope, bearing French Dec. 27 Calais transit and boxed PD, manuscript "per Cuba", on reverse 1868 Fontenay receiver. Very somber but pretty (Scott 98).

Butler": 1867, 24¢ gray lilac, F. grill and 1861, 10¢ green, cancelled by segmented corks on small envelope bearing triple strike of red transit NEW YORK APR 5 "X" c.d.s. and matching "12", manuscript "PAID 34 unanswered", with black "BATH ME. MAR 23" origin on reverse. A very rare franking of the F grill. Scott $2600 for the 24¢ only on cover (Scott 99,68).

Used to France: 1867, 30¢ orange, F. grill, fine, fresh, tied by wedge cancel on "opened" envelope less two corners, bearing red NEW YORK PAID 6 OCT 5 c.d.s. and boxed PD, blue French transit on reverse dominant French 50c Revenue stamps tied by blue dotted cancel with notations, also transits and LA FLECHE 18 OCT 69 receiver. A rare combination (Scott 100).
