Mafia Island, (Tanganyika) G.R. Post 6 Cent Mafia violet handstamp, applied to envelope bearing ZANZIBAR JY9 15 destination c.d.s. excellent condition. Accompanied by O.Z.G.S. envelope with manuscript "Mafia Stamp". Very similar example in the Col. Danson Coll., Brandon Cert. (2016) "philatelic origin".

This handstamp was usually applied as surcharge on German East Africa Yacht stamps, but the P.O. had run out of stamps so the handstamp was applied to paper, then to the cover.
