Used to Germany: 1856, 5¢ red brown, six examples, all with margins all around except one with top added and painted in and right stamp replaced, all tied by NEWPORT R.I. JAN 22 (some improvements) cds on 1858 complete folded letter bearing red N. YORK JAN 26 PAID BR. PKT and boxed red AACHEN FRANCO transits, manuscript "by the Prussian Closed Mail …" and German receiver on the reverse. An extraordinary franking being one of only a few covers known bearing six examples. An exhibition piece, Foundation certificate (1991) and revised Foundation certificate (2013) (Scott 12).

Used to England: 1851, 12¢ gray black, PAIR, margins all around, Very Fine, tied by FLUSHING cds on a neat small folded re-addressed envelope, bearing red AMERICA PAID JA 16 58 LIVERPOOL transit, red "19", blue FALMOUTH cds, manuscript stroke on front, additional Falmouth and Dublin transits and finally QUEENSTOWN receiver and rose red G.C. & R.W. FOX & Co., FALMOUTH forwarder on the reverse. A lovely and unusual cover, Rendon certificate (1990) (Scott 17).
